Nearly twenty years ago, I stepped into an IRC server. The German city of Venna. At the time it was a fully text-based Gorean world: no graphics, no visuals beyond what our words could create. I joined, and soon my character found her place as Alexandria Augustina Lunaria Stargazer of Venna.
For several years, we roleplayed daily, building a living story filled with twists and turns unlike anything I had experienced before. Out of that world grew friendships I still cherish to this day.
Eventually, things grew quiet. IRC faded, and with a small group of us still longing to continue, we looked for a new home. I discovered SL Gor and slowly began drawing people there. We joined the Isle of Cos, and later moved to the City of Olni under a false name, Vixen Gates (the full story can be told on request).
Then my health declined, and sadly I had to step away from SL and from roleplay altogether. Even so, I stayed in touch with everyone, and when the time finally came that I could sit up long enough again, I returned. Through it all, a dream kept quietly growing.
On June 23rd, we took the first steps, securing the region and beginning the build.
Now, six months later, I look back with deep gratitude at the group of people who dared to place their trust in me and gave me the courage to bring Venna to life in SL. As the holidays approach, I want to thank each and every one of you. For your trust, for believing in me, and for simply being here.
To both old friends and new who joined us along the way: I love you all.
