The Thing 2024 –

Greetings, Northern Sim Owners & Event Coordinators,

The Thing is scheduled to take place from May 25th to May 31st, and we’re inviting all villages and kinships of Northern Gor to join us in this significant gathering.

The Thing 2024 aims to bring together the scattered villages of Torsvaldland reigniting the bonds that once united us. We’re looking to reconnect with our heritage and celebrate the values that define us as a community. Our goal is to revive a sense of unity and solidarity among us. Despite our differences, we share a common history and spirit that binds us together.

This marks the start of what we hope will become a lasting tradition again for the North. We see The Thing as a central gathering point for our community, where old friendships can be renewed, new alliances formed, and the spirit of Torsvald can thrive in an inclusive environment.

For the IC event, we’re offering tent accommodations exclusively for villages. These tents can be purchased using zCS coin and will contribute to the prize money for the winners of the assembly’s events. While the event is open to all of Gor, only village tents will be available, ensuring that our village communities are properly represented. However, vendor booths are available.

Additional Information:

We also encourage event coordinators to propose and organize activities for The Thing 2024. Some suggested events include:
– storytelling contests,
– combat tournaments for freemen, freewomen, thralls, and slaves.
– cultural exhibitions,
– feasts,
– larl fights,
– sleen races etc,

We welcome all ideas that showcase our heritage and promote camaraderie among our people. Event coordinators are encouraged to submit their ideas for consideration, and we shall work together to ensure that The Thing 2024 is filled with memorable experiences for all who attend.

Lastly, I’m excited to announce the election of a High Jarl of the North during The Thing. This esteemed position will represent leadership and unity for our lands. Candidates will be selected based on their dedication to unity, effective communication, and facilitation of roleplay interactions between villages and most importantly VOTES between the Chieftains that attend.

The election will occur 1-2 times a year. Each event will feature a new vote on the High Jarl, ensuring that our leadership remains responsive and active.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or would like to get involved, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of the planning team members. Your participation is greatly valued, and we look forward to working together to make The Thing a memorable and unifying experience for all.

Warmest regards,
Chris Ryu (Chrisl Darkthorn)
